Welcome

This website is a plea to federal civil servants to save our republic, our constitution and our decency. Yes, we know the public is often unappreciative of your dedication and hard work. You've been called "faceless bureaucrats" and worse. We may not deserve your help and the risk to your careers and lives such help implies. Nevertheless, we're out here legally communicating with you. And you know very well if there is martial law, we will be singled out for retribution.

We don't assert we know martial law will occur. Those who would declare it would need an excuse. Nevertheless, evidence suggests a reasonable person should be very concerned about the preparations for a permanent police state. You can come forward anonymously, like "deep throat" or publicly like Dan Ellsberg. Do not expect to necessarily be as fortunate as Ellsberg.

Look within your heart, and if you decide patriotism means enough, come take your place in history.

"As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know."  ~  Donald Rumsfeld
  Tips For Whistleblowers

A Concise Set of Advice for Potential Whistleblowers

1. Don’t talk to anyone at work about it. Especially your boss.

2. Consider providing information anonymously. It’s called “over the transom”. Be sure no saliva or fingerprints are on what you send. Use a photocopy machine from a community you rarely frequent. Pay with cash. If you send an official document, the investigator can find the part of the government which issued the document and confirm it’s existence.

3. If you are willing to contact a member of the press, make sure they are real investigative journalists, rather than personal friends of those in power.

4. Wikileaks is worth considering.

5. You are allowed to contact your congressmember. We advise approaching the investigative staff for both house and senate committees such as:
• Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (Chairman Levin)
199 Senate Russell Building, Washington, DC 20510
• U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism,
Technology and Homeland Security(Chairwoman Feinstein)
224 Dirksen Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510
Majority Office 202-224-4933
• United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform(Chairman Waxman)
Mailing Address:2157 RHOB Washington, DC 20515-6143
Telephone:(202) 225-5051
• United States House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security (Chairman Scott)
Mailing Address:B370 RHOB Washington, DC 20515-6223
Telephone:(202) 225-5727
• Committee on Homeland Security (Chairman Thompson)
Mailing Address:H2-176 FHOB Washington, DC 20515-6480
Telephone:(202) 226-2616

Also, Charles Grassley (R-IA) received a lifetime achievement award on May 17,2007 from the National Whistleblower Center. His chief of staff should point you to the correct committee staffer.

Call before you send anything because of the following advice from EFF (Electronic Freedom Foundation):

Why to Not Send Postal Letters Anymore
Because of the post-9/11 security issues, it can take up to THREE MONTHS for postal mail and package delivery services to get through to legislators and their staffs. All incoming mail and parcels are subjected to thorough analysis for bombs, poisons and biological agents like anthrax. This means that sending physical letters is, in 2002 and for the forseeable future, practically useless for activism purposes.

Wikileaks
A place for journalists, truth tellers and everybody else; global defense of sources and press freedoms, circa now.

It is time to speak truth to US power

Financial Times Editorial

Published: October 8 2007 20:24 | Last updated: October 8 2007 20:24

Since the attacks of September 11 2001, the administration of President George W. Bush has sought to cast a cloak of legality over the wrongs that it has committed in the name of fighting terrorism.

Mr Bush seems to think that legal sleight of hand can be used to justify almost any tactic to battle terrorists ? including, it emerged last week, simulated drowning and other cruel interrogation techniques that Alberto Gonzales, his former attorney-general, appears to have authorised by secret legal memorandum.

Papers Please: Arrested At Circuit City

At this point Officer Arroyo asked to see my receipt and driver\'s license. I handed over the receipt, and stated that my name is Michael Righi. Again, Officer Arroyo asked to see my driver's license. The conversation went something like this:

Me: "I'm required by law to state that my name is Michael Righi, but I do not have to provide you with my driver's license since I am not operating a vehicle."

Officer Arroyo: "Give me your driver's license or I will place you under arrest."

Me: "My name is Michael Righi. I am not willing to provide you with my driver's license."

Officer Arroyo: "Turn around and up against the wall."

Press Release

JPL Employees File Suit to End Background Investigations

Re: Nelson, et al. v. National Aeronautics and Space Administration, et al.

Pasadena, CA — August 30, 2007 — Twenty-eight senior scientists and engineers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL is a part of Caltech) have filed suit today in United States District Court for the Central District of California against NASA, the Department of Commerce and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) on behalf of a class of JPL employees who are being required to waive their privacy rights and submit to an unconstitutional intrusive background investigation in order to retain their jobs with JPL. The plaintiffs include highly placed engineers and research scientists at JPL who have been involved in critical roles in NASA\'s most successful recent programs, including leading engineers and scientists on the Mars Exploration Rovers program. All are long term employees of Caltech who have never had to submit to the incredibly intrusive check that the Bush Administration desires. None of the plaintiffs have classified or sensitive positions. Plaintiffs challenge Bush\'s decision to require that all JPL employees submit to a "National Agency Check with Inquiries" and sign a broad written waiver, permitting investigators to obtain records from their past employment files, and to question their friends and associates about their emotional health, financial integrity, and general conduct, including whether they\'ve ever had sex and, if so, what type.
